A delimiter is a separator. The comma separates items in a list, while a set of braces delimits the list. When that occurs, they make what is called a container in computer science terminology.
Since a TI-83 Plus calculator is a basically computer, it can be used to help learn about computer science while also learning math. For example, a set of parentheses delimits a container for a mathematical expression that is to be evaluated.
Brackets delimit a matrix container, and the colon delimits commands and instructions in TI Basic, the calculator's built-in computer language.
